Terms & Conditions

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions govern use of the HearIn website and the HearIn clinic directory ("the Directory"). HearIn is operated in the United Kingdom.

By using the website, or by submitting a clinic listing, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Who these terms apply to

Patients and visitors may browse the Directory free of charge.

Clinics, practitioners and businesses ("Listing Members") who submit a listing do so in the course of their trade, business or profession. Listing Members are therefore treated as business customers, not consumers, for the purposes of UK consumer law.

3. Listings and eligibility

Listings are for independent hearing care providers in the UK, including hearing aid dispensers, audiologists, micro suction and ear wax removal clinics, and hearing technology providers.

Where registration is required for your profession (for example with the Health and Care Professions Council), you confirm that you hold and will maintain that registration. You must tell us promptly if it lapses or changes.

You are responsible for making sure all information you provide is accurate, lawful and kept up to date. HearIn may review, edit for clarity, decline, suspend or remove any listing at its discretion, including where information is inaccurate, misleading or breaches these terms.

4. Prices and payment

The first 20 approved clinics receive a free launch listing. After that, listings cost £20 per month, or £200 for 12 months (equivalent to two months free).

Payment is made by bank transfer only, using the unique reference code (HI-XXXXXX) shown when you submit your listing. Your listing goes live only once payment has been received and your listing approved.

Monthly listings must be paid in advance for each month. If a payment is not received, your listing may be paused or removed. Prices may change; we will give at least 30 days' notice before any change affects a renewal.

5. Non-refundable fees

All listing fees are non-refundable once your listing has been approved and published on the Directory. This includes monthly and 12-month listings, and applies if you choose to end your listing early, close your business, or no longer wish to appear on the Directory.

A 12-month listing is a single advance payment for 12 months of service. It cannot be partly refunded or converted to monthly payments.

If your payment is received but we decide not to approve your listing, we will refund the full amount you paid.

6. Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where it applies, a service must be performed with reasonable care and skill and as described. If the service we provide is faulty or not as described, we will put it right, or, where that is not possible, give an appropriate refund.

The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give consumers a 14-day cancellation ("cooling-off") period for most online purchases. Because Listing Members buy listings for business purposes, this cooling-off right does not normally apply. Where a Listing Member is legally entitled to a cooling-off period, they may cancel within that period. If they have asked us to publish their listing during it, we may deduct an amount in proportion to the service already provided.

7. Cancelling your listing

You may ask us to remove your listing at any time. Monthly listings will not be renewed after cancellation. As set out in section 5, fees already paid are not refunded.

8. Listing badges

HearIn may display badges on listings: "Verified" (a blue tick), "Founding Member", "Monthly Member", "Annual Member" and "HearIn Partner". Badges are awarded, changed or removed at HearIn's sole discretion and may be turned on or off at any time without notice.

The Verified tick means HearIn has carried out reasonable checks on the information supplied, such as professional registration, at the time of checking. It is not an endorsement, guarantee or recommendation of a clinic's services, and patients should still check a practitioner's registration themselves.

Founding Member is reserved for clinics among the first to join HearIn. Monthly Member and Annual Member reflect a clinic's current paid plan. HearIn Partner is offered by invitation or separate agreement.

Badges have no cash value, are not included in the listing fee unless we say so in writing, and do not affect the non-refundable terms in section 5. Removing a badge does not entitle a Listing Member to any refund. Listing Members must not copy, imitate or claim a HearIn badge they have not been given, on or off the website.

9. Information for patients

HearIn is a directory only. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and we are not a party to any agreement between a patient and a clinic. Any appointment, product or treatment is provided by the clinic, under the clinic's own terms.

We take reasonable steps to list registered, independent providers but cannot guarantee the quality of any provider's service. Please check a practitioner's registration yourself before booking. For sudden hearing loss or urgent concerns, contact NHS 111 or your GP.

10. Our liability

We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

Otherwise, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business or opportunity. Our total liability to a Listing Member is limited to the listing fees paid in the 12 months before the claim. We do not guarantee any number of enquiries, patients or bookings.

11. Content and data

You give HearIn permission to display the information and content you submit on the website and in related promotion of the Directory. You confirm that you have the right to share that content.

We handle personal data in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and use it only to run the Directory.

12. Changes and general terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be shown on this page with its date. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will still apply. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
